The Journey of Two Brothers
The story of a family estate that grows, evolves, and reinvents itself over time.
From Paris to the heart of the Blaye wine region
The Novoa family leaves Paris and takes over the estate, driven by a desire to produce, to work the land, and to bring the château back to life. A new chapter begins, guided by a deep commitment to this place.
The transformation of the vineyard
Thomas Novoa, an agricultural engineer and oenologist, drives a major turning point: the estate’s conversion to organic and biodynamic farming, a return to natural practices, and winemaking without additives. A new production philosophy takes root at Château Les Garelles.
First red vintage
The estate releases its first certified organic red vintage, made naturally and with no added sulphites. A defining milestone that fully affirms Château Les Garelles' commitment to authentic, living wines.
Sulphite-free white and rosé wines & international certification
The estate expands its natural approach with its first white and rosé wines made without added sulphites. That same year, obtaining the USDA NOP “100% organic” certification marked an international recognition of the work carried out both in the vineyard and in the winemaking process.
The Novoa duo takes shape
Adrien Novoa, also an oenologist, joins his brother Thomas at the estate. Together, they strengthen a shared vision: to craft sincere wines, deeply rooted in their terroir, in a spirit of authenticity and respect for nature.
First biodynamic vintage
The entire estate reaches a new milestone: all plots are now cultivated biodynamically, revealing a living, harmonious vineyard fully aligned with the forces of nature.
JAS Certification (Japan)
The estate obtains JAS certification, an international recognition that confirms the quality of its organic practices and paves the way for a stronger presence in the Japanese market.
